Function of the Position
Reporting to the Architects Foundation Executive Director, the Sr. Manager collaborates closely with the Executive Director, board, and partners to align the Foundation's mission-driven storytelling, donor engagement, and digital presence through integrated development and marketing initiatives, responsible for managing day-to-day fundraising and communications operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Development Systems and Infrastructure
Manage the operational processes that enable sustainable growth across all revenue streams.
- Work closely with the Executive Director, to create, document, and refine all fundraising operations, including donor pipelines, gift processing, prospect research, reporting, and CRM management
- Manage the integration of databases in support of campaign, annual giving, mass email communication, and stewardship programs
- Work closely with the Executive Director to establish infrastructure for moves management, gift acknowledgment workflows, and donor communications tracking
- Manage database operations, including contact and donation imports, data integrity protocols, and prospect management tools
- Serve as a point of contact with AIA Technology to vet, select, and implement new technology solutions for development and marketing functions
Campaign and Program Development
Manage giving programs that advance the capital campaign and build annual operations.
- Oversee campaign operations to ensure full readiness for the public launch phase (2027-2028
- Develop prospect pipelines, cultivation strategies, and solicitation materials for individual, corporate, and foundation donors
- Create case statements, proposals, and presentation materials that articulate compelling investment opportunities
- Manage special events and donor cultivation initiatives in collaboration with the Development and Marketing Specialist
Marketing and Communications
Integrate fundraising and marketing strategies to deliver clear, consistent messaging across campaigns, appeals, and digital engagement.
- Manage the Architects Foundation Marketing and Communications Committees, and similarly support the Campaign Steering Committee, scheduling meetings, coordinating agendas, and ensuring strategic alignment
- Manage the day-to-day communications calendar, content strategy, and segment outreach to lists for scholarships, development, and Octagon initiatives
- Manage brand alignment across all development materials, ensuring consistent voice, messaging, and visual identity
- Develop and execute multi-channel communication plan, including email, social media, print, and events
- Manage communications partners and vendor relationships
- Coordinate and approve press releases, features, and marketing requests; track engagement metrics and adjust strategy as needed
- Provide final review and approval for website content, social media posts, and marketing materials
Digital Strategy and Website
Manage digital transformation initiatives that enhance donor experience and campaign visibility.
- Work closely with the AIA's Technology department and external consultants on the Foundation's planned website redevelopment, part of a larger branding initiative timed with the campaign's public launch
- Oversee ongoing website management, ensuring timely content updates and alignment with campaign priorities
- Manage digital giving tools, campaign pages, and data capture strategies to enhance user experience and engagement
- Serve as primary point of contact for implementation of campaign systems and integrated digital marketing platforms
- Ensure SEO optimization, accessibility standards, and user-centered design throughout digital properties
Analysis, Testing, and Optimization
Foster a culture of continuous improvement through data-driven decision making.
- Establish and track key performance indicators across fundraising and marketing functions
- Integrate data into useful fundraising reports and prospect management tools
- Use analytics and A/B testing to refine communications and improve results
- Generate reports and dashboards for leadership, board, and campaign volunteers
- Conduct post-campaign analysis and recommendations for program refinement
Collaboration
Build internal capacity and cross-departmental alignment to achieve ambitious fundraising and visibility goals.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, board, and partners to align priorities and advance the Foundation's strategic goals
- Manage relationships with sponsors, partner organizations, and volunteer fundraisers
- Cultivate strong working relationships with AIA staff, board members, campaign volunteers, and external partners
Qualifications
Required
- Proficiency with fundraising CRMs (Network for Good, Raiser's Edge, Salesforce)
- Collaborative, data-driven communicator with strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience managing website/digital platform redevelopment
- Experience with marketing automation platforms (HubSpot, Mailchimp, Constant Contact)
- Experience drafting proposals, reports, and multi-audience communications
- Demonstrated project management, team leadership, and message development abilities
- Proficient written/verbal communication skills with ability to multitask and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
Preferred * Experience working on capital campaigns through public phase * Knowledge of architectural philanthropy, design education, or historic preservation * Familiarity with planned giving, corporate partnership and foundation relations. Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of nonprofit fundraising and communications experience (museum or cultural sector preferred) Proven success managing integrated fundraising and marketing operations, including capital campaigns.
Travel Minimum Travel
Supervisory Responsibilities
May work closely with campaign consultants, contractors, or interns. Collaborates with Foundation program managers on deliverables.
