We put people first and demonstrate care and compassion for our community and each other. Because what we do matters - to us as valued professionals and to the millions of people and institutions who rely on us to help them build more secure and prosperous futures.

THE ROLE

The Investment Product Competitive Analyst supports the Global Distribution sales teams in growing and retaining assets. Additionally, the Competitive Analyst supports the Defined Contribution (DC), Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), and product leadership to provide actionable insights on competitor strategies, market dynamics, investment trends and investor perspectives across the retirement landscape.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Competitive Analysis:

  • Act as an in-house expert on external databases (e.g., Morningstar, Brightscope, FI 360, Strategic Insight, eVestment) for competitor research.

  • Monitor, analyze and synthesize competitor activity across the DC and RIA markets. This includes reviewing DC investment menus, glide path features, active/passive trends.

  • Develop and produce reports on MFS's sales, redemption, and flow trends. Track the product positioning, performance drivers, fees, flows and distribution strategies of major DC/RIA competitors as well.

  • Evaluate trends in the ETF market, including:

    • Growth of active ETFs and their role in retirement portfolios.

    • Implications of ETF adoption in the retirement landscape (costs, liquidity, plan menu construction, etc).

    • Provide regular and ad hoc analyses of MFS's competitive position, particularly in the DC market. Analysts provide timely briefings on industry developments, regulatory changes and plan sponsor behavior.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with internal and external sales teams to strengthen DC and RIA sales efforts.

  • Partner with Product Management as needed to assist with analysis of our strategies against competitors and provide insights on the evolving role of active management in plans.

  • Act as the key contact for external sources regarding MFS product performance and address related issues.

  • Establish competitive intelligence contacts to gather additional information.

Process Improvement:

  • Develop, automate and maintain recurring competitive intelligence data (monthly/quarterly) and ad hoc analysis used by sales leadership, global product and investment teams.

Other Duties:

  • Take on additional responsibilities as requested.
