| Job Summary |
Provide strong written and verbal communications to promote UT Dallas in all communication platforms: news media, web-based communications, print materials, public speaking, and presentations. Create compelling content on a regular basis that will be used by an assigned unit within UT Dallas. Focus on bringing positive attention to academic research as well as student, faculty, and institutional achievement. Keep branding and presentation consistent with institutional guidelines.
Be a part of a team of communications experts who will partner with you on content, outreach, and campus-wide initiatives. |
| Minimum Education and Experience |
Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, English or marketing. Five to seven years of experience including excellent written and verbal communication skills. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. |
| Preferred Education and Experience |
In addition to the minimum requirements, outstanding candidates might also have:
- Master's degree in journalism and/or a science/engineering field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience reporting or writing in higher education setting.
- Experience writing accurate and compelling stories and news releases concerning science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

| Other Qualifications |
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. |
| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Write and develop all content, in all media, to be used for promotion of UT Dallas.
- Create accurate and compelling new stories, releases and other content.
- Develop and maintain relationships with outside agencies.
- Work collegially with other university communications officers to leverage the greatest possible value in terms of promotion.
- Serve as a positive representation of UT Dallas to media, visitors, donors, and others.
- Respond to requests for information in a timely manner.
- Manage and oversee the production of routine publication.

Internal candidates will be given preference.
Remote Notice: After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the
DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
