Job Summary

The Safety Specialist, Training and Development is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating safety training programs across the organization. This role ensures that all employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive safety professional with a passion for education, a strong understanding of OSHA and other regulatory requirements, and the ability to engage employees at all levels.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive safety training programs tailored to various roles and departments
  • Conducts needs assessments to identify training gaps and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Delivers engaging in-person and virtual safety training sessions, workshops, and toolbox talks
  • Creates and maintains training materials, including manuals, e-learning modules, videos, and job aids
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics
  • Maintains accurate training records and generate reports for internal and external audits.
  • Supports incident investigations by identifying training-related root causes and recommending corrective actions
  • Stays current on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging safety technologies
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement safety campaigns, initiatives, and continuous improvement projects
  • Participates in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the development of corrective action plans
  • Monitors industry trends, regulatory updates, and best practices to inform safety strategies.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for safety-related inquiries and initiatives across the organization
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or a related field or 4+ years of related experience
  • 2 to 4 years+ experience in safety training, auditing, or standards development in a corporate or multi-site environment
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and other applicable safety regulations
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning development tools. Experience with Cornerstone a plus
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel to company locations as needed (up to 50%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of content creation software, including Adobe, Captivate, Articulate, Photoshop, etc
  • Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CHST, or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in high-risk industries such as construction, manufacturing, or logistics
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles, instructional design, and behavior-based safety programs
