Position Summary

Share your expertise in the prehospital emergency care field with students in McHenry County College's rapidly growing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department. We are seeking qualified applicants for the Laboratory Coordinator - Emergency Medical Services. The primary responsibilities of this position are to ensure all EMS training equipment and supply needs are met effectively and accurately, and all experiential learning opportunities are well-coordinated and documented appropriately. Critical qualities for the successful candidate are attention to detail, effective communication skills, and expertise in quality customer service. Qualified candidates will possess excellent computer skills and demonstrate evidence of a career that includes flexibility and willingness to adapt as the demands and environment evolve.

This is a term position with funding scheduled to begin as soon as the preferred candidate is selected and ending June 30, 2026. It is possible the position will continue as ongoing, beginning FY26 (July 1, 2026), but this is not guaranteed until the FY26 budget is finalized.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor the security and safety of the EMS lab, supply closet, simulators, and classroom. This includes stocking, storing, and dispersal of supplies, equipment, and materials.
  • Assist Director and Dean with budget preparation by submitting lists of supplies and materials as needed
  • Maintain inventory
  • Maintain semester schedules of labs
  • Monitor and replenish supplies as needed
  • Coordinate operation of EMS laboratory equipment. Monitor equipment performance; repair as needed or contact vendor for support.
  • Order supplies and equipment as needed. Travel to local suppliers for pickup of materials, as needed.
  • Administration of the Paramedic program application process
  • Preparation of documentation for accreditation agencies, as needed (Higher Learning Commission, Illinois Community College Board, and the Committee on the Accreditation of EMS Professions)
  • Maintain safety procedures for EMS training
  • Submit book orders for all EMS classes each semester
  • Coordinate student tablet distribution and collection for EMT and Paramedic programs
  • Maintain student data/reporting, including CPR cards, EMT licenses, vaccination records, etc. for clinical compliance
  • Coordinate clinical experiences, including scheduling, evaluations, and communication with all clinical partners
  • Maintain EMS training manual
  • Coordinate Platinum Planner, including obtaining licenses, invoicing, preceptor management, and student enrollment
  • Coordinate Platinum Planner and Canvas templates
  • Assist with review of Platinum Planner documentation
  • Assist with preceptor training and compliance
  • Work collaboratively with others (e.g., colleagues, stakeholders, vendors)
  • Provide additional support to the EMS program, including Skills Labs, as needed
  • Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
