| Essential Job Duties |
Are you an experienced electrician who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and making a meaningful impact on campus operations? Join our
Building Maintenance and Operations team as an
Electrician II, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our campus electrical and mechanical systems.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of secondary electrical systems, steam/
HVAC equipment, and mechanical components while contributing to a collaborative environment that supports learning, innovation, and campus excellence. If you're looking to grow your career while doing work that truly matters, we encourage you to apply and become part of our team.
Key responsibilities and duties (include but are not limited to):
- Install, maintain, and repair secondary electrical systems (550V and below) and related equipment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical components such as conduit, wiring, electrical panels, breakers, switchgear, magnetic starters, disconnects, and motors.
Repair and maintain lighting systems, including fixtures, ballasts, switches, and receptacles. Diagnose, service, and repair equipment used in steam generation and distribution, requiring strong mechanical and pipefitting skills.- Maintain critical systems such as boilers, turbines, pumps, condensate receivers, steam lines, expansion joints, strainers, pressure-reducing stations, piping, insulation, air compressors, and water softeners.
- Perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
- Identify and correct faults in control systems and perform necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Repair, adjust, or replace temperature controls, humidity controllers, sensors, pneumatic control valves, and regulators.
- Lift, carry, and maneuver materials weighing 60-90 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Perform tasks requiring standing for extended periods, working in confined spaces, and utilizing various tools. Safely climb and work from different types of ladders to access elevated or below-grade areas (such as roofs, above-ceiling spaces, and utility pits). Be exposed to and work in areas where insects or small animals are occasionally present. All essential tasks must be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.- Communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and the general public and understand verbal and written instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters.

| Other Responsibilities |
- This position has been designated as mandatory personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule.

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification(s).
Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Demonstrate through work a depth of knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance, alteration, and repair of secondary electrical systems (voltage 550V and below) and equipment.
- Experience in the trades areas of electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical theory and application, including troubleshooting complex electrical systems, interpreting schematics, and understanding load calculations and safety codes.
- Diagnose/troubleshoot/repair boilers, fan turbines, pumps, condensate receivers, steam lines, expansion joints, strainers, pressure reducing stations, piping insulation air compressors, water softeners and other equipment for generating/controlling steam which requires pipe fitting and other skills.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with the capacity to independently assess issues, recommend solutions, and complete work efficiently with minimal supervision.
