About Duke University Hospital

Manage and coordinate overall administrative direction and coordination of the Operations Administration team and Operations Center. Involved in coordination of multiple inpatient units, support staff and daily operations of Duke University Hospital.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:



  • Manage and coordinate operations and administrative involved in coordination of multiple inpatient units, support staff and daily operations of Duke University Hospital.
  • Maintain visibilityand open communication with front line hospital staff through rounds.
  • Coordinate triage activities through communication with the Emergency Department and other entry points for patients and inpatient units; assist in evaluating and reassigning staff during crisis situations.
  • Take corrective action in situations requiring immediate intervention, including interpretation of hospital policy, work rules and quality of care issues.
  • Investigate patient and visitor concerns and implement appropriate course of action.
  • Identify and evaluate actual or potential safety and risk management issues; intervene as appropriate; intervene and problem solve inter/intradepartmental issues as required.
  • Prepare operational reports and analyses setting forth progress, adversetrends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
  • Monitor trends and assist in improvement of services by analyzing operating procedures; recommend cost effective and efficient solutions.
  • Plan and schedule work for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.
  • Manage various personnel functions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisal, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules.
  • Determine fiscal requirements for the department and prepare budgetary recommendations; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds.



Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

BSN Required, Masters Preferred, current RN license



Experience

Work requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in hospital administration or patient care within a large and complex healthcare organization, to include a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
