Summary The Maintenance Technician performs multiple functions at this inland fuel services facility. Responsibilities include the planning, coordinating and implementation of maintenance programs for bulk fuel terminal and refinery. Oversees execution of API 653 tank cleaning, inspection and repairs. Accounts for the quality control and completion of all repair projects. Ensures company and contractors are in compliance with safety policies and procedures. Coordinates construction and/or maintenance projects. Analyzes all work requests to determine necessary repair or replacement and estimate project costs for labor and material requirements. Identifies need for maintenance materials, warehouse stock, rental equipment and/or contract services. This is a 365-day operating facility. Must be flexible and able to work On-Call for various shifts that may include nights, weekends and/or holidays. Responsibilities
- General maintenance repair of pumps, valves and liquid transfer systems
- Lubricate (grease, oil etc.) any and all pumps, motors and valves using weekly/monthly guide and maintain log of events
- Perform necessary testing, repairing, and preventative maintenance on the electrical and control systems
- Testing, calibration and repair of plant instrumentation and electronic equipment along with ensuring safe and efficient plant operations.
- Handle projects involving the implementation of design changes, major maintenance activities, including outage planning or system improvements associated with plant control systems, environmental equipment systems, fuel systems, chemical treatment systems and auxiliary equipment systems
- Work on a variety of pneumatic, electronic and microcomputer instruments, used to measure and control variables such as pressure flow, temperature level, motion, force and chemical composition
- Planning, coordinating and implementing standard maintenance programs
- Oversees execution of API 653 tank cleaning, inspections and repairs
- Accounts for full cycle quality control and completion of repair projects in a timely manner
- Ensures that the company and all contracted maintenance staff are in compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Analyze and estimate projects for repair or replacement, including labor and material requirements
- Inventory control of maintenance materials and warehouse stock
- Identifies need for future repair and coordinate rental equipment and/or contract services
- Routine and ongoing daily inspection of facilities
Additional responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment and instrumentation
- Utilize lifting systems for light or heavy machinery placement (incorporating pulleys, cables, hydraulic lifts or cranes
- Assembling new equipment ensuring that gears, wheels, bearing, belts, motors are aligned, fitted and attached properly
- Supports emergency plant needs on day shift and provides 24-hour (on-call) assistance during off hours
- Diligently follows all safety requirements
- Maintain location appearance, repair and replace equipment in order to maintain exemplary compliance standards
- Coordination of projects with contractors and work in a safe manner, following company safety policies and programs
- General maintenance responsibilities as directed
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
- HS Diploma or GED
- 3-5 years related experience, including bulk fuel storage and pipeline operations
- Solid mechanical knowledge; electrical/instrumentation basics
- Mechanical ability to take apart and assemble complex machinery
- Project management and inventory control experience
- Must be knowledgeable with equipment used in terminal operations such as pumps, meters, truck loading equipment, electrical, etc
- Basic PC skills including MS Word and Excel
- Pleasant and professional demeanor with internal/external entities
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task within department for instruction and direction
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, phone)
- Being on-call for maintenance issues outside of normal work hours
