POSITION SUMMARY

The Avionics Technician is a key team member of Northern Air Maintenance Services (NAMS) responsible for conducting operational testing and troubleshooting of aircraft electrical, avionics systems and components installed in aircraft.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoot and repair defective aircraft avionics discrepancies.
  • Locates and disassembles electrical parts and assemblies to facilitate testing.
  • Attaches fittings, clamps, lines, and hoses to assess equipment, also assess aircraft system components.
  • Perform tests and inspections in accordance with 14CFR part 91.411 and 91.413.
  • Perform wire harness build-up and breakout boxes for troubleshooting.
  • Checks accuracy (calibration) of navigation equipment.
  • Checks the functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and component inspections including general ramp service for customer aircraft.
  • Will perform the duties of Flight mechanic when scheduled.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRMENTS

  • High School Diploma, or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Must possess valid Airman Certificate with Airframe & Powerplant ratings.
  • Graduate of approved avionics school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License or NCATT AET Certification Preferred.
  • A moderate degree of reasoning, math skills, and language skills are required for this position. High School levels are sufficient for all areas.


  • Read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and interact well with coworkers and customers.


  • Solid understanding of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven understanding of TRAX preferred.


  • Active driver's license.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and maintain qualifications in accordance with DOT/FAA regulations.
  • Must have a valid Passport or the ability to obtain a passport within the first 6 Months of employment.


TRAVEL

  • Occasional in/out of country travel will be required.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The work is classified as "heavy".
  • Physical ability to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position in a safe and effective manner including lifting to 70 lbs., climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, and/or pulling up to 100 lbs.
  • Exposure to high noise levels, moving aircraft and equipment, dirt, dust, fumes, heat, cold, exposure to hazardous materials, exhaust fumes, working in confined spaces for extended periods, and working outside in harsh winter conditions for up to 2 hours at a time. Use of personal protective equipment including respirators may be required.
