Department Summary

The Molecular Lab Research & Early Development team is seeking motivated students for an immersive intern program focused on developing molecular assays for infectious diseases and genomics diagnostics. Our mission is to safeguard global health by pioneering advanced molecular diagnostic solutions. We are dedicated to leading the fight against Infectious Diseases by innovating and making new diagnostic solutions available for healthcare markets worldwide to have a positive impact on society and people's lives.

Our team comprises experts in molecular biology and microbiology dedicated to developing novel diagnostic assays to address current unmet medical needs. Interns will benefit from hands-on mentorship within our world-renowned organization. We are dedicated to guiding students through all aspects of molecular qPCR assays, from laboratory work at the bench to understanding the clinical relevance.

This internship position is located in Pleasanton, on-site.

The Opportunity

  • This is a wet-lab based summer internship requiring hands-on bench research experience.

  • The job will require sample preparation to extract DNA and RNA from cell lines, plasma and tissue from patient samples, as well as PCR reaction experimental setup.

  • Analyze data and clearly communicate data in tables and graphs.

  • Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook and computer proficiency in Microsoft Office basics.

  • Work in the lab for multiple hours per day and present work in weekly team meetings.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June 2026.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are

Required Education

You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).

  • Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree.

Required Majors: Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to follow experimental protocols, directions and perform experiments carefully.

  • Laboratory experience beyond the classroom, using typical molecular biology tools such as pipettes.

  • Familiarity with sterile technique; biological and hazardous material handling experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

  • Experience working with DNA and RNA handling (RT-PCR preferred).

  • PCR bench skills necessary and understanding of next generation sequencing technologies preferred.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location ofCalifornia is $26.00-$33.00 per hour.Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
