Finance & Accounting Rotational Program Representative

Primary Purpose:

The Emerging Talent Programs at Arcwood Services are designed to train and develop high potential candidates and provide opportunities to accelerate your career growth and gain direct, hands-on experience. Working alongside managers and leaders, exposure to high level projects, and individualized mentorship provides a unique experience for all participants.

The Finance & Accounting Rotational Program is a 1-year program that explores up to three functional areas in our Pricing and Accounting departments. We design assignments to provide meaningful exposure to core functions while allowing flexibility to align with business priorities and your unique strengths and interests. The Essential Functions and Requirements listed are indicative and may be refined as we collaborate with selected candidates to create the most impactful experience.

Essential Functions & Requirements - Talent Programs:



  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Develop an understanding of how the company works and build relationships with Emerging Talent Program Representatives through regularly scheduled meetings, annual training workshops, and mentor programs.
  • Network with professionals from various disciplines across the organization to enhance teamwork, collaboration, communication, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Maintain awareness of all Company policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure compliance.


Essential Functions & Requirements - Accounting:



  • Assist with analyses and support of Business Units during monthly closing and planning cycles; Support portions of the annual budgeting cycle; Learn various utilities and functions of operating/reporting systems (PeopleSoft, MMS, EPM); Assist staff with all financial record-to-report functions including balance sheet reconciliations, GAAP financial reporting, and tax audit coordination;
  • Learn and participate in all of the accounting functions of the department (Billing, AR Cash Application, Accounts Payable, Tax/Treasury, and Payroll) to support the order to cash cycle.
  • Support cost accounting and operational business; Analyze costs and trends in transportation and disposal, labor, and utilities; Assist in budget preparation in conjunction with operations leaders; Execute monthly journal entries associated with cost accounting. Partner with location leadership to provide key financial data for strategic decision-making.
  • Participate in year-end audit preparation and facilitate auditor requests for information.


Essential Functions & Requirements - Pricing:



  • Execute centralized price analysis and implement structured price adjustments across product lines.
  • Foster a culture that supports a regular and systematic approach to pricing adjustments, transitioning from a project-based to a recurring cadence.
  • Develop clear, impactful internal and external communications related to price increases, execution, and timing.
  • Track, measure, and report price increase realization compared to established targets and trends.
  • Conduct ad hoc pricing analyses and provide actionable insights based on evolving business needs.


Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related required.
  • Anticipated graduation with qualifying educational degree prior to program start date (required) -OR- Qualifying educational degree that has been obtained within 2 years prior to the program start date (required)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (required)


Experience:



  • Prior relevant internship, co-op, or practical experience required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative (school club officer, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc or exceptional leadership on work projects) required

  • Strong teamwork, networking, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Organizational and time management skills.
