Position Summary

This position serves as a program specialist within the Career and Professional Education group. The position contributes to the career services operation within Career and Professional Education The position works closely with the Assistant Director, the Senior Program Manager for Career Services and other internal and external customers to deliver career services and training as well as new/pilot activites that support the career growth and development of ACS members. The position provides support for programs including Career Consulting,Virtual Office Hours, and Career Pathways workshops, The position contributes to Division- and Society-wide initiatives that advance ACS learning opportunities and the value of these opportunities for current and prospective members. The incumbent reports directly to the Assistant Director, Career and Professional Education.

Position Accountabilities




  1. Provide administrative support for career programs, products, and services (PPS). Support includes monitoring the scheduling of career consultations, updating career consultant profiles, preparing facilitators and panelists for virtual office hours and virtual career pathways workshops, reviewing workshop content and career consultant training, and reviewing and responding to queries from members regarding career-related PPS.
  2. Track and review career PPS and ensure accuracy of information across all public media (websites, newsletters, social media, print publications, registration forms, email communications, etc.).
  3. Partner with the DPX team to ensure all career website information is accurate and up-to-date., including writing copy and reviewing/replacing images.
  4. Support the development and implementation of marketing and communication activities across multiple career PPS in coordination with the Marketing team.
  5. Supports the Assistant Director, Career and Professional Education with other activities of the unit, Division, and Society as needed. This includes activities that advance ACS career opportunities and the value of these opportunities for current and prospective members and customers.
  6. Represents the Society at ACS Spring/Fall, regional, and local section meetings, and at meetings external to ACS.
  7. Produce online events, including handling logistics, evaluations, and communications with learners, as needed.



A reasonable rate of compensation for this position is between $75,000-$85,000 per year.
