The Massachusetts General Hospital seeks a full-time, licensed social worker (LCSW or LICSW) for a one-year training program in Addiction Medicine starting in June 2026. The Integrated Substance Use Disorder Training Program (ISTP) is a yearlong fellowship that aims to train nurse practitioners, psychologists, and social workers in team-based addiction care, especially in community-based settings.
The Social Worker Fellow will work with other ISTP trainees to provide inter-disciplinary care for people with substance use disorders in a community-based health center setting. The training program will provide clinical experience in a variety of placements including an inpatient addiction consult service, a low-threshold walk-in clinic, and outpatient dual-diagnosis programs for adolescents and adults. Training and mentorship will be provided by experienced addiction practitioners who are faculty of this program.

Summary
This position will collaborate with other professionals to evaluate patients' medical or physical conditions and to assess client needs as part of the interdisciplinary team. They work collaboratively with all healthcare team members to develop and implement treatment plans that support patient-centered plans of care for both individual patients and the medical community.

Essential Functions-Provides psychosocial assessments of patients and families with social, emotional, interpersonal, and/or environmental issues. Formulates biopsychosocial assessment, disposition, and treatment plans.
-Collaborate with other professionals to evaluate patients' medical or physical condition and to assess client needs as part of the interdisciplinary team.
-Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress according to measurable goals described in the treatment and care plan.

Education
Bachelor's Degree Social Work required or Master's Degree Social Work required or Master's Degree Mental Health & Behavioral Medicine required

Experience
Clinical experience in a medical setting 0-1 year required
