This is a short-term lecturer appointment.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Full-time, short-term Lecturer position in Software Engineering/Information Technology Management in the Department of Math, Science, and Technology at the University of Minnesota's Crookston Campus starting January 5th, 2026. This is a single-semester position for Spring semester of 2026 with the possibility of renewal. This position is not eligible for H-1B or other Visa Sponsorships.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver high-quality undergraduate instruction to students in the Software Engineering B.S. program, the Information Technology Management B.S. program, and in the Health Informatics Certificate programs. Course topics include, but are not limited to, Programming, Web Application Development, Operating Systems, Software Quality Assurance and Testing, Software Requirements Analysis, and Database Management Systems. The candidate is expected to contribute to further developing current and future undergraduate programs and enhancing the student experience. The candidate should be open to teaching both on campus and online courses. Standard teaching load is 15 credits per semester.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in software engineering, computer science or related field;
  • Effective communication skills; ability to relate complex concepts to diverse audiences;
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English;
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, and commitment to an experiential educational philosophy within the scope of the land grant mission;
  • Final job offer contingent upon complete background check and receipt of official transcripts.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctorate in software engineering, computer science, or related field;
  • Experience and track record of seeking and successfully implementing externally funded projects and grants;
  • Experience with online and in-person education;
  • Experience with bioinformatics, cybersecurity, and data science.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $32,000 - $37,250; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff
