Position Highlights

We are seeking multiple Instruction Associates to assist with teaching anatomy during the fall semester for College of Medicine - Phoenix and/or NAU allied health and ASU graduate students. The Instruction Associate will be required to review all lectures and lab materials, teach in all labs in the assigned course(s), provide an open lab review session prior to each exam, to help proctor each exam, and assist the faculty and staff with logistical tasks in the lab (e.g., restocking supplies, etc.). The laboratory is located in the Health Science Education Building on the downtown Phoenix Biomedical Campus.

We are recruiting for multiple hires for this position. This is not a permanent hire position. The length of employment for this position varies between the fall semester of August - December.

Duties & Responsibilities

Under supervision by a faculty member, teach dissection-based human gross anatomy to UA medical and/or NAU allied health and ASU graduate students, including:

  • Reviewing all lectures, lab materials, and teaching in all labs in the assigned course(s).
  • Providing open lab review sessions prior to each exam.
  • Complete competency evaluations for students.
  • Helping to set up, proctor, and break down practical exams and assisting the faculty and staff with logistical tasks in the lab (e.g., restocking supplies, etc.).

This position will work to influence and instruct students for College of Medicine-Phoenix, as well as, NAU and ASU students (external entity) and will communicate with leaders at both Universities on a regular basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/ individuals.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and job functions.
  • Mastery of human gross anatomy and ability to communicate relevant information.
  • Skills in public speaking and facilitating small group learning activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Successful completion of graduate level human anatomy course, including full body human dissection.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant for allied health students in a gross anatomy laboratory.
  • At least one year of teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant for medical students in a gross anatomy laboratory.
