The Tesla Bot program aims to revolutionize humanoid robotics, and we are seeking passionate individuals to join us in this mission. The Optimus Electromechanical team is looking for an innovative materials engineer who can solve complex problems and drive product level development. As a Material Integration Engineer, you will be on the cutting edge of materials development and applications across multiple systems.
What You'll Do
- Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies in electrical, electronic materials and processes to continuously innovate and improve designs
- Conceptualize, design and test solutions for materials constrained problems, including adhesives, plastics, elastomers and integrate those solutions into a deliverable system
- Build and publish design tools in MS Excel, MATLAB or Python for mechanical design engineers to conduct first-principles-based performance, lifetime and mass analysis
- Analyze and communicate benefit, risk and cost impact of material, design and process decisions with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, control and AI engineers, to integrate electromechanical solutions into the Tesla Bot architecture
- Work with test engineering to develop validation plans including building or acquiring testing fixtures, equipment and instrumentation
- Keep material suppliers and inhouse and contract manufacturing partners engaged and accountable from A-sample build to mass production
What You'll Bring
- Degree in mechanical or related field, or equivalent experience with demonstrated skills in integrating advanced materials and manufacturing processes in electromechanical systems
- Strong engineering intuition and analytical skills to break complex engineering challenges down to solvable problems with verifiable solutions
- Proficiency in CAD and simulation software as well as prototyping tools and lab testing equipment
- 3 or more years of direct experience with adhesives, elastomers, plastics, coatings and related processes in consumer electronics, surgical robotics or high-performance medical equipment is preferred
- Expertise in designing dynamic interconnects and distribution systems for high-performance applications is a bonus

Expected Compensation
$88,000 - $228,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
