What to Expect
The Technical Program Manager for Tesla's Cathode Materials & Manufacturing develops strategies and leads the introduction of new materials and processes into Tesla's active material production. This involves deep and broad collaboration with internal and external lab and pilot partners to develop, quantify, assess, test, refine, and execute programs within an ever-evolving technical landscape. In this role, you will be the lead planner and strategist for developments and innovations in cathode production. You will work with engineers and managers to develop timelines, track risks and progress, and provide inputs/outputs for cross-functional teams.

What You'll Do
  • Manage the worklist and prioritization of lab and pilot experiments, assessments, and DOEs-including timelines, cost charts, status reviews, and technical performance results across all categories
  • Manage qualification phase gates and workflows for existing commercial production through ramp
  • Manage new material development with internal engineering teams and potential new suppliers for upcoming cell material products
  • Establish, refine, and revise clear technical goals and roadmaps for cathode material and process development
  • Manage supplier feedstock (precursor and lithium) and downstream (electrode and cell) customer development and qualification
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal partners-including Cell, Manufacturing, Finance, Purchasing, Quality, and Production-and external partners, from material and equipment suppliers to industry experts and other relevant groups. Ensure alignment across all efforts and identify roadblocks early
  • Manage all supplier-partner outputs (e.g., samples, orders, methods, program decisions) to ensure timely progress through the development process in coordination with the development calendar

What You'll Bring
  • Deep technical knowledge of electrochemistry and material synthesis fundamentals
  • Degree in Materials Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in related engineering or technical program management roles preferred
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Ability to work with complex datasets and effectively analyze and synthesize data
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and passionate about materials and process development in the battery raw materials space

    Expected Compensation
    $88,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
