About the Opportunity: The Tooling Coordinator supports manufacturing operations by managing tools at the primary manufacturing site and at an offsite storage facility. This includes company owned, customer owned, and US Government owned tooling. Tool sizes range from small templates to large die sets weighing up to several thousand pounds. The role requires protecting, preserving, and maintaining the property owner's investment in compliance with FAR 52.245-1, internal procedures, and customer specific requirements. The facility is AS9100 and ISO14001 certified. This position helps maintain those standards through accurate documentation and effective asset control. The role requires strong organizational skills, clear communication, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Daily travel between both locations is required using a company vehicle. The pace of work varies from steady to reactive, and flexibility is valued to support occasional changes in workload or priorities. This is a full time, first shift position based primarily at the offsite storage facility. Location: Eastford, CT Onsite, 0% Travel Responsibilities:
- Manage tooling at the primary manufacturing site and an offsite storage facility in accordance with FAR 52.245-1, internal procedures, and customer requirements.
- Ensure proper storage, tracking, preservation, and safe handling of all tooling.
- Maintain organization and inventory accuracy at both locations.
- Conduct regular walkthroughs to verify cleanliness and proper storage conditions.
- Track and document tool inventory, condition, and location in the ERP system.
- Coordinate and schedule daily tool deliveries and returns using the company vehicle.
- Inspect tools before delivery to confirm they are clean, functional, and ready for use.
- Maintain accurate records of tool usage, returns, replacements, and property classifications.
- Prioritize daily tasks and respond to tooling needs with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with Managers and Leads to plan tool requirements and delivery schedules.
- Work effectively with production teams, auditors, and leadership.
- Provide logistical support to minimize production downtime.
- Report on stock levels and the condition of spare materials and tooling.
- Operate forklifts and aerial order pickers safely and in accordance with company training and procedures.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
- Handle all tooling related documentation and information confidentially in accordance with customer and government requirements.
- Conduct scheduled tooling audits at both locations to verify accuracy and compliance.
- Work with internal auditors, customer auditors, and government auditors to complete required tooling audits and provide supporting documentation.
- Ensure adherence to internal, customer, and regulatory standards including AS9100 and ISO14001.
- Analyze audit findings and recommend process improvements.
- Prepare clear, accurate audit reports for management.
- Perform routine checks of the company delivery vehicle and coordinate necessary repairs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to tool cleanliness, equipment longevity, and facility organization.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain forklift certifications within 30 days of hire, including traditional forklift and aerial order picker operation. Training is provided on site.
- Ability to maintain required certifications through scheduled refresher training.
- Proficiency with computers including ERP systems and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills for working with production teams and auditors.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to understand and follow tooling management requirements in internal procedures, customer documents, and FAR 52.245-1.
- Ability to work at elevated heights using an aerial order picker or rolling stairs.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and move throughout manufacturing areas during the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to pass standard pre-employment background checks and drug screening per company policy.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
- Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in tool management, logistics, or inventory control.
- Experience in an AS9100 or ISO14001 certified environment.
- Experience managing government or customer owned property.
- Experience supporting or participating in internal, customer, or government audits.
- Prior ERP system experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of audit or asset management practices.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in climate controlled, well lit, and clean aerospace manufacturing environments at both locations.
- Frequent work on the shop floor with required PPE.
- Regular standing, walking, climbing stairs, and movement around equipment.
- Work may require being elevated off the ground while using an aerial order picker or rolling stairs. Time spent at elevated heights varies based on storage needs.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, or lifting items up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent use of hands and arms to handle tools and equipment.
- Daily travel between two nearby locations using a company vehicle.
- Most time will be spent at the offsite storage facility.
- The pace of work can vary from steady to reactive depending on production needs.
