This data driven Analytical Chemist, as part of the Quality department, will be responsible for performing advanced chemical analyses and supporting quality control within our paint and coatings systems. This role involves running gas chromatography, titrations, and other laboratory tests to ensure product integrity and compliance with specifications.
This position reports to the Quality Manager. This role is onsite and is based in Germantown, WI.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct chemical analyses using gas chromatography, titrations, and other analytical techniques.

  • Prepare and process samples according to established protocols.

  • Execute testing methods for paint systems and related materials.

  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.

  • Record, analyze, and maintain both current and historical test data in compliance with quality standards.

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve material issues.

  • Assist in developing and improving laboratory procedures and testing methods.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned.

  • Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency)

  • Travel Requirements: up to 10%

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in an analytical or quality control laboratory.

  • Proficiency in gas chromatography and titration techniques.

  • Strong understanding of chemical principles and laboratory best practices.

  • Excellent organizational and data management skills.

  • Ability to independently prioritize and execute on deliverables.

  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.

  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Laboratory experiencewith coatings or paint systems.

  • Experience with paint/coating formulations and testing.

  • Familiarity with ISO or ASTM standards for coatings.

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and quality systems.

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site in a manufacturing facility. You will be required to work at the Bradley location in Germantown, WI. Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

* Ability to remain seated at a desk or workstation for extended periods.

* Ability to perform repetitive tasks like typing on a keyboard or using a mouse for extended periods.

* Ability to physically move around the office, organize or transport files, packages, or other office-related materials.

* Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks.

* Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers and copiers.

* Ability to occasionally lift and carry light objects, such as office supplies, samples to test, documents, or small equipment.

* Ability to stand for long periods of time.

* Ability to physically move around manufacturing floor.

* Ability to read documents and communicate clearly with management and coworkers.

* Ability to wear personal protective equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
