Summary:
Access to Care has a team of 100 located throughout the MH system. At the 78 Atlantic Place, South Portland office there are 45 team members. Access to Care, under the Center for Health Improvement, works to ensure comprehensive, affordable healthcare and improve the quality of life in our communities. We focus on the Social Drivers of Health addressing needs related to healthcare coverage, access to low cost or free medication, health system navigation. In addition, we partner with community-based organizations to connect consumers with appropriate resources.

The internship position will support two components of Access to Care: operations and coordination of a grant funded vision program. As part of the Operations Team, the intern will support team data analysis by supporting our patient-data tracking related to our main office. The intern will have the opportunity to support the ongoing grant-funded Vision Care Program. This includes conducting consumer outreach with the assistance of interpreter services, scheduling vision exams, coordinating transportation needs, and attending appointments.

Preference will be given to undergraduate sophomores, juniors, and seniors pursuing social work, public health, public policy, psychology, or other related majors.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Student who is currently enrolled in a two-year Associate's Degree program, Bachelor's Degree program, or graduate-level program preferred.
