Summary:
Our department is a multidisciplinary team of Nurses, Clinical Exercise Physiologists, Exercise Specialists, and Registered Dietitians that deliver Cardiac Rehab. We are an outpatient facility of Maine Medical Center Portland, located at 96 Campus Drive in Scarborough. We have a team of around 20 staff members that lead medically supervised exercise, healthy lifestyle coaching, and education around cardiac risk factors.

With the aid and supervision of staff, interns will be tasked with aiding in the intake and management of cardiac rehab patients. They will be expected to take resting and exercise blood pressures, help in exercise prescription and instruction, and lead group stretching and relaxation. Interns will also be expected to have knowledge of EKG rhythm interpretation, absolute and relative contraindications for exercise, and an overall understanding of cardiac risk factors.

Preference will be given to undergraduate seniors and graduate students pursuing exercise science, kinesiology, sports science, exercise physiology or other related majors.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: Student who is currently enrolled in a two-year Associate's Degree program, Bachelor's Degree program, or graduate-level program preferred.
