POSITION SPECIFICS

The Associate Director of UHS Operations provides strategic direction, leadership, and oversight for the operational functions of University Health Services (UHS); is responsible for developing and implementing business plans that enhance service delivery, improve the patient and customer experience, and ensure financial sustainability; oversees a multidisciplinary team and supports clinical and ancillary services through operational optimization, budget planning, IT coordination, contract management, and compliance with regulatory standards; provides direct oversight of several UHS departments, such as Emergency Medical Services, Pharmacy, Student Health Insurance, Laboratory Services, Radiology, and Physical Therapy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide operational leadership across UHS administrative, business, and ancillary functions, ensuring alignment with University, federal, and accreditation standards

  • Collaborate with UHS senior leadership to develop and execute long-range strategic plans, policies, and procedures

  • Manage and mentor department managers and their respective teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals

  • Support operational needs and logistics for Clinical Services in collaboration with the Medical Director, Director of Nursing, and Revenue Cycle Manager

  • Support UHS budget development, forecasting, and financial performance tracking in partnership with the University's centralized finance team

  • Analyze cost containment opportunities and identify potential revenue sources

  • Present financial plans and performance data to UHS and Student Affairs leadership

  • Evaluate and optimize operational workflows to improve patient care delivery, staff efficiency, and customer satisfaction; track and analyze performance metrics

  • Manage UHS safety programs and ensure compliance with all federal, state, University, and accreditation regulations; maintain and update the UHS Emergency Response Plan

  • Serve as the primary liaison between UHS and University IT to lead projects and support UHS IT needs

  • Partner with facilities staff and departments to maintain and improve UHS physical spaces and equipment

  • Manage UHS contracts in partnership with University Procurement; negotiate and oversee agreements with third-party vendors

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate UHS administrative and ancillary staff; ensure operational adherence to collective bargaining agreement provisions; provide mentorship and professional development opportunities while managing performance and workflow priorities

  • Address and resolve customer, patient, and parent concerns related to departments under oversight

  • Anticipate communications and marketing needs and collaborate with communications teams to support outreach strategies

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to monitor and present operational, financial, and clinical performance; use data analytics to drive decisions and recommendations for continuous improvement

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 10+ years of relevant experience, includes 5+ years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $86,300.00 - $129,500.00.
