Position/Department Summary:
Cares for the health, welfare and safety of children under 5 years of age in a group setting. Works with a team of teachers, to provide a caring environment where children are safe and secure. Helps to plan appropriate age activities. Communicate with parents concerning their children's activities, health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Caring for the welfare, health and safety of the children in the group. Carrying out Center policies regarding the safety and well-being of children.
  • Preparing healthy snacks, feeds and diapers children.
  • Collaborating with teaching team to plan age-appropriate daily activities, classroom routines and classroom design. Conducting daily activities. Prepares and selects appropriate materials and helps to foster and facilitate play between children.
  • Developing trusting relationships with children. Reporting to team unusual or extreme behavior which may indicate emotional, developmental or physical problems. Carrying out plans developed for supporting children with extra needs.
  • Working to develop supportive, cooperative relationships with parents. Communicating with parents about children's activities and enforces Center policies when necessary.
  • Participating in preparation of progress reports on children. Prepare written progress reports on assigned children.
  • Working individually and as a team to bring about positive learning and work environment.
  • Attending appropriate staff meetings, parent functions, advisory meetings and 20 hours of required service training. Responsible for opening or closing the Center.
  • As required by DEEC, complete all developmental assessments and developmental books on assigned children.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A High School diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or closely related field preferred

Experience:
  • One to two years of professional teaching experience with infants, toddlers and/or preschoolers.

Certification/Registration Required:
  • Department of Early Education and Care Certification required.
  • First Aid/CPR Certified.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
