Work Shift:

8hr-1st Shift 7a-3:30p Sparta (United States of America) The PrePress Technician is responsible for preparing jobs for the presses, managing ink and plate inventory, and ensuring the organization and cleanliness of the PrePress area according to 6S standards. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of flexographic printing processes, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Job Preparation:

  • Prepare jobs for presses by organizing job folders according to the database and flexo schedule.
  • Communicate with the graphics department regarding the need for new dies or plates.
  • Ensure all job items are returned to their proper place after completion.

Ink and Plate Management:

  • Order inks and manage ink stock to prevent shortages or overstock.
  • Utilize the Pantone book for accurate ink mixing and color matching.
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain plates and dies before and after use.
  • Inspect each plate and die for damages and maintain an organized inventory.

Organization and Maintenance:

  • Keep the PrePress area organized and clean in compliance with 6S standards.
  • Ensure proper storage and stock of chemicals and ink.
  • Maintain detailed records of plates, dies, and job folders to ensure timely job execution.
  • Learn operation of at least two prepress machines in order to maintain cleanliness.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure required PPE is worn.
  • Ensure chemicals and ink are stored safety and in compliance with regulations.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work collaboratively with press operators and other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Assist on the production floor as needed.
  • Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.

  • Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a prepress or printing environment preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills for coordinating with various departments.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Attributes: Customer-oriented with a positive attitude, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Guiding Principles: Willingness and ability to align to Altium's Guiding Principles at all times.
  • Miscellaneous: Ability to work overtime as needed as well as assume other duties as assigned.
  • Working Conditions:

  • The role involves working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and efficiency.
  • May involve exposure to printing chemicals and inks, requiring the use of specific PPE.
  • Ability to perform standing job for up to 8 to 12 consecutive hours (depending on shift length).
  • Remain stationary extended periods of time.
  • Move around production floor.
  • Move, adjust, and position anywhere from 10 to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during a consecutive 8- to 12-hour period (depending on shift length).
