Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Financial Analyst - Brooklyn.

In this role, the successful candidate Senior Financial Analyst for the NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn Finance Mission is responsible for analyses regarding Clinical Finance. This includes Financial Reporting, Budgeting, Data Analyzing, and Improving Efficiency / Productivity. The Sr. Financial Analyst reports to the Manager of Finance for the Brooklyn Mission within NYU Langone Hospital and will provide day to day support to the Manager. Responsibilities will include, assisting in strategic planning, operational and capital budgeting, forecasting activities. In addition to creating and providing financial reporting analyses the candidate will also be responsible in collecting, compiling, and analyzing information in an easy to understand format. Manage to achieve the overall finance target of the mission. The Sr. Financial Analyst should have a good working relationship with the clinical departments to understand budget assumptions in order to investigate causes of variances. Continuous engagement with clinical departments to explore revenue and expense opportunities. Ad-hoc requests that may also be requested from the Manager or Senior Director of Clinical Finance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the Cost Accounting System [EPSi] to obtain Profit & Loss, Contribution Margin, Payor Rates, Trending and opportunities. This relates to both Inpatient and Outpatient population.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.
  • Incorporate new technologies, systems and processes to improve the daily financial operations of the Brooklyn Hospital Mission Department.
  • Provides the Brooklyn Hospital Operations group with financial analyses revolving around patient volume and revenue.
  • Utilizing the general ledger system (PeopleSoft) to provide budgetary and actual information using trends and projections.
  • Investigate causes of variance with respective departments in order to identify operational and financial opportunities.
  • Provides a monthly budget performance report which includes analyzing differences between budget and actual performance for both revenue and expenses.
  • Assists in annual and monthly operating budget planning regarding to volume, revenue, and expenses.
  • Work with Clinical Departments to create staffing models as well as analyses related to patient volume.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree with a major in a business subject (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) and 3-5 years of related experience. A graduate in business or public administration is preferred. Other minimum qualifications include: excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving skills, and a comprehensive knowledge all applications within Microsoft Office; specifically with Excel. He or She must know vlookups, pivot tables, sub-totals, and other Excel functions.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree; Proficient in utilizing Tableau or similar tool; Experience with a not-for-profit, healthcare institution and a cost or general accounting background preferred.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
