About the Opportunity:

The Materials Leader is responsible for overseeing all planning, scheduling, and material flow, to support efficient production operations. This role ensures that material availability, work order management, and cross-functional communication align to drive on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and operational excellence. The leader will manage key planning functions within the ERP system, partner closely with manufacturing teams, drive continuous improvement across the supply chain from raw material receipt to delivery to final customer. The Materials Leader will be a key part of implementing and maintaining a SIOP process. This role also includes coaching and developing team members.

Responsibilities:

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Guide and support planners to maintain all planning and scheduling functions within the ERP system to support production requirements and inventory control.
  • Create, release, and manage work orders for multi-level Bills of Material (BOM) across diverse production workflows.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Supervisors to balance workloads, resolve capacity constraints, and prevent production delays.
  • Issue materials to the production floor to ensure consistent workflow and timely execution.

Material Management & Inventory Control

  • Track material start delays, maintain accurate inventory levels, and oversee material flow for the shop floor, including flow to and from Outside Vendors, working closely with the Purchasing Team.
  • Monitor and resolve discrepancies related to vendor packing slips, material receipts, and inventory transactions.
  • Ensure that all transactions are processed the day of receipt.
  • Develop and maintain detailed inventories of materials in WIP and in the warehouse.
  • Maintain required on-hand quantities of supplies and materials to optimize production performance.
  • Analyze inventories and procedures; recommend and lead improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Work with the finance team and lead a cycle count program that alleviates the annual need for a physical inventory

Supply Chain Leadership & Optimization

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to maintain resources needed for an effective supply chain.
  • Participate in policy deployment targets focused on inventory reduction, cost reduction, and material velocity.
  • Identify optimal shipment and transportation routes to ensure timely delivery to end customers on mission-critical hardware, as well as to and from Outside Vendors.
  • Ensure materials are available and properly staged to meet production schedules.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members to build executional capability.
  • Support training, performance feedback, and process adherence across the planning and logistics team.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in ERP systems, materials planning, and production scheduling.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace or other high-precision industries.
  • Understanding of MRP transactions, inventory control, and capacity planning principles.
  • Familiarity with Engineering Change processes and shop floor operations.
