Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of fiber optic and cable infrastructure in dynamic data center environments. This role includes fiber termination, Fluke/OTDR testing, equipment rack and stack, and interpreting blueprints for infrastructure builds, while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining professional communication standards. Candidates must have at least two years of fiber and data center experience and be physically capable of performing hands-on technical tasks in various environments.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform cable infrastructure and fiber rough-in.
- Manage cable dressing and labeling.
- Terminate cables and fiber connections.
- Install and configure single-mode and multi-mode fiber, including various connector types (ST, LC, SC, SC-APC).
- Conduct Fluke and OTDR testing.
- Troubleshoot fiber-related issues.
- Rack and stack customer equipment.
- Build out server racks and rack elevations.
- Install fiber trays, ladder racks, customer equipment, and cabinets.
- Complete infrastructure installations, including cable management, fiber tray systems, ladder racks, and power trays.
- Receive materials and assemble hardware.
- Perform Outside Plant (OSP) installations by running fiber into the data center.
- Read and follow blueprints for installation.
- Communicate professionally with colleagues and management, both verbally and in writing.
- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols, including proper PPE usage, jobsite cleanup, and OSHA compliance.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Data Center Technician.
- Minimum 2 years of fiber installation and maintenance experience.
- Active OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Physical ability to work on ladders and scissor lifts, in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds. Must be able to stand for the entire shift.
- Basic hand tools required: multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose and channel-lock pliers, punch-down tool, flashlight, steel-toe or composite-toe work boots, gloves, and tool pouch.
