  • As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructures to protect organizations from cyber threats.
  • This role combines networking expertise with cybersecurity measures to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
Where you will make an impact:
  • Maintain network resources, including configuring network switches, server hardware, VoIP systems, operating systems, applications, and services in a wired and wireless environment.
  • Maintain and improve network operations and provide support to network users.
  • Configure and maintain network components (e.g., Cisco Meraki routers, switches, etc.) and services (e.g., connectivity and access).
  • Perform custom configuration for complex network devices such as firewalls and VPN concentrators. Reconfiguring network equipment is necessary to handle environmental changes.
  • Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose complex network problems with minor supervision, implementing solutions with limited system-wide impact.
  • Escalate issues with broader implications for the entire network to higher-level network personnel, such as the Network Manager or Technical Service Director.
  • Maintain the campus's wireless authentication tool(s) and serve as the primary point of contact for campus community support.
  • Utilize monitoring tools to capture and analyze traffic, maintain uptime, generate usage reports, and spot trends.
  • Create and maintain documentation and diagrams as needed when assets are added or removed.
  • Support VOIP telecom environments, including adding/moving/changing phone equipment and ensuring that our environment stays current with product releases.
  • Provide users with technical support and establish network users, user environments, and directories for networks being installed.
  • Install and test necessary software and hardware in accordance with standards-based settings and client Change Management processes.
  • Design and deploy security protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Continuously monitor network traffic for unusual activity and potential threats.
  • Investigate and resolve security breaches and vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify weaknesses and improve defenses.
  • Ensure adherence to industry security standards and regulations.
What will you bring:
  • Higher Education background and knowledge with 5 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Experience and knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting Cisco IOS networking devices.
  • Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Server operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services, and Server roles such as DNS and DHCP.
  • Has broad-based knowledge and hands-on experience implementing network switches.
  • Practical experience with Cisco phone systems and VOIP system administration.
  • Excellent time management, planning and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with end-users, understand their technical and operational needs and translate them into viable technical solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, encompassing complete understanding of the English language with exceptional communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to work as a contributing member of the team, including working cross functionally.
  • Must participate in on-call rotation.
  • Proficient in network access control systems.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows server operating systems.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring systems such as SolarWinds.
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure and security protocols (SSL/TLS, IPSec, VPNs).
  • Experience with Cisco firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint security.
  • Working knowledge of AWS, Rubrik and FortINAC.
  • Certifications such as CCNA and CompTIA Security are highly valued.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills to address security challenges.
Education:
  • Cisco Certification Preferred.
