Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Security Project Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader responsible for the comprehensive design, planning, and implementation oversight of complex physical and logical security systems for a diverse range of projects. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, project management acumen, and excellent communication skills to deliver robust and integrated security solutions that meet stringent client requirements and industry best practices. This colleague will be providing design engineering support to customers and projects across our vertical teams and will be responsible for the delivery of these services and support for the projects assigned to them. Job Responsibilities:
1. Provides design or drawing assistance services for projects during the development and as-built stages of the projects. Works on projects of varying levels of complexity. Works with sales, operations, and customer teams to obtain electronic plans from engineers/architects/owners.

2. Works from spots and dots, conceptual and/or schematic designs. Utilizes and maintains Convergint project design, documentation, and submittal standards. Ensures adherence to industry standards and codes as required.

3. Reviews and ensures understanding of the scope of services provided to lead / manage the design efforts for assigned projects.

4. Participates in internal design review meetings as coordinated by the Project Managers. Participates in project turnover meetings with both sales and project team. Provides project team with all documentation according to Convergint standards and project requirements. Responsible for the management of timelines, schedules, and all deliverables. Act as a subject matter expert for security design.

5. Works with CAD/BIM operators and project designers to ensure production, delivery and standardization and consistency.

6. Obtains project design information as required from the client, vendors.
|
7. Communicates all design progress, committed completion dates, design scope revisions, and associated costs to the Project Managers. Discusses all anticipated overtime requirements with the Project Managers.

8. Provide cost estimate for the design service as required by the customer.
|
9. Manage project design timelines and execution.
|
10. Performs change-order work only with formal authorization to proceed. Assists the project team with change-order pricing.

11. Organizes/Maintains Status's and Documentation of Projects
|
12. Prepares submittal packages according to project requirements or Convergint standards. Revises submittals as required to gain approval.

13. Provides operational support for the sales phase of projects when needed.

14. Using technical knowledge, skills, and experience may act as mentor and provide training for less experienced designers. Transfers knowledge and expertise to other Designers.

15. Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards, templates, and processes within the company.

16. Review and quality control design deliverables from junior staff, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company standards and project requirements.

17. Complete and maintain in real time the Design Project Management Tool and other tools at his disposal. (e.g. Change Order Tracker, Labor Tracking tool, Design Turnover Form)

18. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Job Skills Requirements:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; strong preference for experience with Revit/BIM.
- Expertise in designing and specifying integrated security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and networked security components.
- Solid understanding of IP networking principles relevant to security systems.
- Demonstrated ability to produce comprehensive design documentation (drawings, specifications, reports).
- Knowledge of common security frameworks, standards, and regulations.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead technical discussions with clients and cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Education Requirements:
- Minimum two-year technical degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering desirable
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 9+ years of previous design, engineering, field service or project management experience in the electronic security industry
- A minimum of five years' experience with AutoCAD is required.
Certifications & Licenses:
- Local, federal and industry-specific licenses as required - Security.
- Relevant certifications such as ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), BICSI RCDD, or equivalent.
- Experience with specific security manufacturers' platforms (e.g., Genetec, LenelS2, Avigilon, Axis, etc.).
Work Environment:
- This role is an office-based position in La Palma, CA, but may require travel to client sites within the service area of our office.
- This role has the following physical requirements: Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Ability to climb ladders to inspect or install products. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
