For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering a $3,000 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants. This bonus will be prorated for part-time positions. Please note this bonus is not available for per-diem positions. Current MaineHealth employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth employees are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

Summary:

The Nursing Unit Secretary at MaineHealth provides essential clerical, receptionist, and patient support services to ensure the smooth operation of the nursing unit. This role serves as a central point of communication for the unit, supporting nursing staff, providers, patients, and visitors while maintaining accurate records and coordinating unit activities.

The Nursing Unit Secretary plays a vital role in supporting patient care by managing administrative tasks, facilitating communication, and assisting with transport needs in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

  • Department: CFT7

  • Location: Onsite at 22 Bramhall Street, Portland, Maine

  • Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts (7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.)

  • Scheduling Structure: Always night shift; days worked rotate within the week and are not on a fixed schedule
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
  3. Experience: One year of hospital or health care setting preferred.
