Wage Scale Position Summary
The Fossil Generation Trainee is an entry-level position within a line of progression leading into Machinist Journeyman in the Machinist section of the Fossil Generation Department Tasks and Responsibilities
Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to use hand tools
Ability to lift/move/transport heavy objects and equipment weighing up to one hundred ( 100lbs.)
Ability to perform and demonstrate basic mathematics
Ability to use machinist precision measuring instruments while taking measurements within certain tolerances
Ability to read, write, and understand verbal and written instructions
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Possess a valid driver's license with a history of a safe driving record in accordance with CPSE policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable laws and regulations
Ability to work safely at heights, in confined spaces, around electrical facilities, in extreme temperature ranges, and in adverse temperature conditions
Ability to work at various locations, perform shift work, call duty, and overtime as required
Previous industrial mechanical maintenance experience, and machine shop work experience in manually operated metal cutting machines such as (lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, etc.)
Ability to retain mechanical knowledge, and maintenance procedures on various types of equipment
Must pass Mechanical, Reading and Math Aptitude test to be considered for an interview. Preferred Qualifications

Working Environment
Work is performed outdoors with possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Physical Demands
