GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Performs entry level assistance in engineering. With oversight and guidance from technical staff, interns apply academic theory, education, and training to real life Unmanned Aerial Systems aircraft projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assist Design, Development, and Production teams by applying academic skills to fast-paced engineering projects and programs. Typical tasks may include:







        • Mechanical Engineering CAD design, hardware selection, design for manufacturing, drawing changes
        • Electrical Engineering electrical component design, schematics, harness design, power analysis
        • Software Engineering Software Engineering Embedded C++/C, MATLAB, software test w/ hardware
        • Integration and Test Mechanical, electrical, SW system integration and testing projects
        • Structural Analysis iispecialization within mechanical engineering, using advanced application of software to analyze static, dynamic, modes, and aeroelasticity.
        • Materials and Process Composite materials, material specifications, procedures, metallic coatings
        • Supply Chain Purchase request/order automation, strategic supplier support, and data analysis, operational process improvement






  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • May organize engineering data using spreadsheet tools.
  • May support technical presentation creation.
  • May aid in the development of technical manual narratives and graphics.
  • May attend supplier, customer and IPT Engineering meetings, assisting with the preparation of meeting materials. (conference rooms, agenda, presentation materials, and taking meeting minutes).
  • May prepare and processes Purchase Requests, monitor purchase requests and resolve open actions.
  • May interface independently within the engineering department and other functional groups.
  • Responsible for working tasks within allocated budget.
  • Must accurately charge time spent on jobs.
  • Other duties may be assigned to expand support to the team and provide professional career development.

Required:



  • Basic working level knowledge of Microsoft tools (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
  • Detailed understanding and application of technical documentation and engineering processes and practices.
  • Ability to generate compliant documentation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:



  • In process of obtaining a BS or MS degree in Engineering.



WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Office and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with KUAS General Safety Training guidelines.



TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:



  • 0-25% - May be required to travel between locations.
