Make your mark for patients

We are looking for a Medical Communications Specialist (MCS) for US Rheumatology who is scientifically accurate, fair balanced, compliant with UCB medical affairs policies and standards, and aligned with the medical strategy to join us in our Rheumatology Medical Affairs Team, based in our Atlanta, Georgia office.

About the role

The MCS will stay current on clinical trends and the needs of patients, caregivers, and HCPs, and is responsible for the planning and execution of a variety of projects and deliverables, including medical affairs materials, live presence at major scientific meetings and events, and providing Medical Information support. The MCS leads the timely development of written and verbal scientific communications, ensuring accurate and balanced content related to complex medical and scientific concepts, treatment options, data, and emerging standards of care.

  • Collaborates with members of the strategic Field leadership teams
  • US medical affairs planning and execution of congress activities
  • Manages vendor relationships for scientific communications

What you'll do

  • Supports or leads Medical Congresses the US medical affairs planning and execution of congress activities
  • Serves as a scientific resource for internal stakeholders concerning communication priorities, available resources, and opportunities to engage stakeholders externally
  • Applies scientific/product knowledge and synthesizes complex data to communicate in various formats to individuals and groups
  • Supports the development of written medical information response documents that are adapted to US-specific stakeholders and policy
  • Serves as an escalation point for Medical Information inquiries
  • Provides support to scientific publications and medical training as appropriate and applicable to overall scientific communications activities (ie, abstract/poster trainings, training on new materials for external use)
  • Medical Reviews: designs, uploads, edits, and manages scientific materials to the internal document and review management system
  • Leads planning and execution of Medical Communications Initiatives
  • Demonstrates understanding of legal and regulatory issues that affect industry-based medical affairs practice and ensures alignment with UCB policies
  • Enhance medical engagement through digital content and omnichannel strategies

Interested? For this role, we're looking for the following education, experience and skills

  • Master's Degree or higher in a scientifically relevant field
  • Minimum of 1+ year of Medical Affairs experience
  • Ability for occasional overnight travel, up to 20%, required
  • This position is based in the UCB US Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia

Preferred

  • Doctorate (M.D., PharmD., or Ph.D.)
  • 3+ years with scientific communications experience
  • Documented experience with scientific/medical writing and communications (manuscript development/publication, presentation experience, experience presenting at or leading congress activities)
  • Relevant therapeutic area (Rheumatology) experience
  • Able to lead projects with a proactive and collaborative approach
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings

This position's reasonably anticipated base salary range is $124k-162k per year. The actual salary offered will take into account internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
