About our group:

Join Seagate Research's Rapid Prototyping Group, a team dedicated to turning ideas into reality through design, additive manufacturing, and subtractive manufacturing. We operate across an additive manufacturing lab and two machine shops, supporting innovation throughout Seagate. This role is based in the additive manufacturing lab, where you'll work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with experts to bring concepts to life.

About the role - you will:

  • Design and create complex assemblies and detailed drawings using CAD.
  • Coordinate projects focused on additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain advanced manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform quality inspections using precision measurement tools.
  • Provide guidance on additive manufacturing applications and best practices.
  • Assist with managing new equipment and ensuring smooth integration into workflows.

Your experience includes:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing processes and applications.
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematical principles.
  • Understanding of basic geometric tolerancing.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Hands-on experience with FDM, SLA, SLS, and other 3D printing technologies.
  • Familiarity with injection molding processes.
  • Knowledge of common metals and plastics used in manufacturing.
  • Programming experience in Python and C++/Arduino.

Our Shakopee campus is located 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis in a setting with a rural vibe - it overlooks a horse racing track and stables, yet it has great entertainment venues close by as well. The estimated base salary range for this position is $63,835.00 - $91,290.00. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
