Manager, Intermodal Operations - Lead Dispatch Excellence Across Rail, Drayage & OTR Networks

Join The Pasha Group as Manager, Intermodal Operations, where you'll oversee intermodal dispatch operations and lead teams responsible for rail, drayage, OTR, and local trucking execution across our transportation network.
At Pasha, reliable freight movement depends on disciplined dispatch, strong vendor partnerships, and proactive problem-solving. In this role, you'll own the daily and long-term performance of the Transportation department-driving service excellence, cost control, and continuous improvement while supporting critical customer commitments.
Lead, Coordinate & Optimize Intermodal Transportation Operations
Take ownership of dispatch execution and operational performance across rail and trucking modes.
  • Dispatch & Team Leadership: Manage day-to-day activities of the dispatch and transportation teams supporting intermodal rail, FCL, OTR, local trucking, and drayage operations.
  • Performance Management: Ensure performance meets or exceeds KPIs and SLAs through proactive planning, monitoring, and corrective action.
  • Track & Trace Excellence: Develop and lead effective track-and-trace procedures, ensuring timely, proactive communication to Sales and internal and external customers on load status.
  • Disruption Management: Identify, prevent, and resolve transportation disruptions and operational complexities to protect customer service and transit commitments.
  • Vendor & Partner Oversight: Develop and maintain strategic relationships with rail carriers, trucking partners, and brokers; serve as Transportation's lead rail point of contact across the enterprise.
Drive Cost Control, Systems Performance & Continuous Improvement
Balance service reliability with financial discipline and operational efficiency.
  • Cost & Financial Management: Manage transportation expenses, accruals, and reporting across weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles; analyze trends and explain variances.
  • Equipment & Yard Coordination: Partner with Equipment Management to ensure container, chassis, and CY availability; oversee repositioning, storage, and M&R cost effectiveness.
  • Port & Rail Coordination: Collaborate with port operations and Dispatch Rail Coordinators on rail billing, on-dock/off-dock opportunities, and drayage execution to optimize cost and transit time.
  • Systems & TMS Leadership: Oversee staff training and use of TMS platforms; recommend and participate in TMS enhancements, EDI integrations, and system updates.
  • Operational Strategy: Recommend and implement strategies to optimize freight costs while maintaining agreed service levels.
Be a Strategic Partner Across the Business
Collaborate across functions to support growth, service, and profitability.
  • Customer & Sales Support: Partner with Sales to support protected, current, and challenging accounts and contribute to new account development.
  • RFQ/RFP & Carrier Management: Participate in RFQs/RFPs, contracting, and negotiations; maintain SLAs and carrier performance scorecards.
  • Reporting & Insights: Deliver regular reporting on service levels, productivity, and financial performance to support informed decision-making.
  • People Leadership: Coach, develop, and manage staff performance, career growth, and accountability within a high-performing team culture.
What You Bring
You combine deep transportation expertise with strong leadership and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, International Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of progressive operational leadership experience in freight, transportation, rail, or intermodal environments
  • Proven experience managing transportation operations in and out of port facilities
  • Direct people management experience leading dispatch or operations teams
  • Strong understanding of intermodal rail operations, dispatch workflows, and vendor management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Transportation Management Systems
  • TWIC preferred
