The PACCAR Summer Internship Program provides an opportunity to learn about PACCAR through a work assignment in our Advanced Technologies team. Each intern will be integrated into division and department meetings, activities and events to ensure an understanding of PACCAR and our truck brands Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF. The PACCAR Technical Center is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the development and validation of emerging technologies such as vehicle electrification and autonomous driving systems. The PACCAR Technical Center is located in scenic Mt. Vernon, Washington, north of Seattle and south of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

The intern will work within the Advanced Technology team and contribute to the development of aLevel 4 (L4) Advanced Driver-Assistance System. More specifically, the intern will focus onMachine learning based durability driver vehicle diagnostics.During the internship, the student will set up an approach for replacing one of the main functions of the driver (such as hearing, seeing, or feeling a truck response) with a set of sensors and signal monitoring processes, leveraging Machine Learning. The solution will be tested in collaboration with the Advanced Engineering team and the Advanced Technology team at the PACCAR Technical Center.

Qualifications
  • Willingness to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with machine learning desired.
  • Experience with programming (Python, Matlab, etc.).
  • Experience doing data postprocessing and data analysis.
  • Hands-on, not afraid to work with sensors and trucks.
Education

Junior or higher standing toward an engineering degree
