The Project Manager role will play a foundational role on the Vermont Health Insurance Exchange (HIX) Maintenance & Operations (M&O) team. This position is designed for individuals eager to build a career in project management while contributing to meaningful work in healthcare technology.

Working closely with senior project managers, project leads, and analysts, the Project Manager will assist in planning, coordinating, and tracking development and M&O activities. This role will also develop reports for both internal and external client stakeholders on project updates, risks & issues, as well as critical release schedules and managing to expected results. This role will be an active member of the PMO and will ensure the engagement adheres to agreed-upon processes and service level agreement (SLA) criteria for both internal and external clients.

The role emphasizes learning and growth, providing opportunities to gain hands-on experience with enterprise-level solutions, project management methodologies, and client-facing communication. This position is ideal for someone with solid organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and a desire to evolve into a more senior project management role over time.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Project Support & Coordination:
    • Assist in developing project artifacts (plans, schedules, documentation) in partnership with leadership and stakeholders
    • Support the PMO team in defining project scope, identifying risks, and applying established project management techniques
    • Track team assignments and monitor progress against deliverables
  • Communication & Reporting:
    • Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and professional project updates for internal and external stakeholders
    • Support the documentation and reporting process, including weekly, monthly, and annual client reports
    • Facilitate team meetings and contribute to discussions that drive delivery
  • Operational Support:
    • Assist in maintaining project documentation repositories (eg, SharePoint, Azure DevOps)
    • Support compliance with software standards, best practices, and contractual obligations
    • Contribute to budget tracking and forecasting activities
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements, knowledge sharing, and adoption of emerging technologies
    • Work with project managers and technical staff to build a solid foundation of project management and practical expertise

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proven solid interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships in a professional environment
  • Proven excellent ability to express complex concepts professionally both verbally and in written form
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP or CAPM certification (or willingness to pursue)
  • Experience gathering and documenting business or technical requirements
  • Exposure to healthcare or regulated industries
  • Familiarity with project and software development lifecycles
  • Understanding of state and federal security policies and guidelines (HIPAA, CMS)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $72,800 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
