Pay Details

The Trump Kennedy Center strives to design equitable compensation programs. The projected pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, and includes a comprehensive benefits package. This is the targeted range of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. This range may be modified in the future. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience as it relates to the position qualifications and responsibilities.

Job Description

The NSO Development Department is a dynamic, mission-driven team responsible for advancing the National Symphony Orchestra's artistic and educational work through philanthropic support from a variety of donors. The team works collaboratively with Kennedy Center development colleagues across individual giving, institutional giving, and events, fostering a culture of excellence, creativity, and shared purpose. The office environment is collegial, fast-paced, and highly collaborative, reflecting the energy of a world-class orchestra. The department is unique in its proximity to the Orchestra's musicians and programming. Team members see firsthand the impact of their work onstage and in the community.

The Development Assistant and Data Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the NSO Development team's work is accurate, efficient, and donor focused. This position serves as a front-line resource for donors, providing thoughtful customer service and assisting with benefits and inquiries by phone, email, and in-person. Behind the scenes, the role manages gift entry, acknowledgments, data integrity, and benefit fulfillment within the CRM system (Tessitura). By combining exceptional service with meticulous data management, this position helps strengthen donor relationships and supports the overall success of the NSO's fundraising efforts.

Key Responsibilities



  • Serve as primary contact for NSO Circles Members, managing and appropriately directing donor requests via phone, email or in-person.
  • Serve as primary database specialist for NSO Development, ensuring data accuracy and integrity in our CRM System (Tessitura).
  • Process all NSO Development gift entries (checks, credit cards, stock gifts) with accuracy and attention to detail into CRM System.
  • Maintain and update donor records including contact information, giving history, and engagement activities provided by development leadership.
  • Conduct data audits to identify and correct errors or inconsistencies.
  • Assist with stewardship and benefit fulfillment for individual donors.
  • Assist with the draft and distribution of pledge reminders and gift acknowledgements.
  • Assist with coordinating reports and data pulls to support the development team.
  • Track and process approved development-specific expenses.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responds to the needs and requests of Kennedy Center management and staff in a professional and expedient manner; Adheres to all employer policies and procedures.
  • Will need to work some nights and weekends to interact and steward donors during concerts and special events.

Key Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
  • Experience in a front-facing, customer service-oriented role with the ability to communicate with donors and colleagues warmly and professionally.
  • Experience with Tessitura or a comparable CRM system is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with CRM databases strongly preferred (Tessitura experience a plus).
  • Working knowledge of the performing arts, particularly classical music, is helpful but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines with moderate supervision.
  • Candidate must be local or willing to relocate to the DMV area. Relocation assistance is not provided.
  • Candidate must be willing to work onsite.
