This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

We are seeking a highly skilledSystems Reliability Engineer 3to join our Operations Technology team. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems and processes that enhance the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of our operational infrastructure. The Operations Technology team is creating digital infrastructure for the entire Operations organization, with a primary focus on building scalable solutions that automate our business processes. You will bring your perspective to aerospace applications for Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin's facilities. The ideal candidate will be hands-on and ready to dive in, applying their technical expertise and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, develop, and maintain robust automations within third-party enterprise procurement software, specifically Coupa and Vroozi.
  • Design, develop, and deploy automated workflows to streamline standard administrative tasks, including approval workflow changes, user provisioning, and license assignments.
  • Automate complex business processes based on defined parameters, such as vendor management (activations & deactivations), invoice approvals, and part serial number assignment.
  • Implement and manage code versioning control for all automation scripts and configurations using GitLab.
  • Design and implement audit and compliance metrics to identify and flag poor data entry and management practices. Deploy automated escalation processes to drive adherence to data quality standards.
  • Monitor system performance and reliability via Datadog, identifying bottlenecks and implementing optimizations to improve compute resource utilization, system uptime, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and integrate solutions across various operational systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a Systems Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, or Software Development role focused on automation and system reliability.
  • Proven experience building configurations, automations, and integrations within enterprise-wide procurement or ERP software.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Ruby) for developing robust automation solutions.
  • Solid experience with version control systems, particularly Git and GitLab.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement automated workflows and business processes.
  • Experience with system monitoring and alerting tools; Datadog experience specifically preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SRE principles related to reliability, scalability, performance optimization, and incident response.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across distributed systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with various teams.

Desired

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Direct experience configuring and automating features within Coupa and Vroozi.
  • Familiarity with the aerospace industry or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with data analytics or business intelligence tools for reporting and compliance monitoring.

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $164,652.00 - $230,512.80

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
