The Advanced IR Special Procedures Technologist performs advanced imaging procedures, including fluoroscopy and interventional radiology, assisting in diagnosing and treating patients. Responsibilities include operating specialized equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and providing critical support during complex medical procedures. The Advanced IR Special Procedures Technologist will also serve as a resource, superuser, and will assist in training. This role also requires a strong commitment to patient care and collaborative communication with patients and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care. Position Details:
Advanced IR Special Procedure Technologist

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO

Department: Interventional Radiology

Status: Full-Time - 40 hours/week Shift: Days Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program and completed clinical hours.

  • Licensure: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice. AART and 1 advanced registry (CI, VI)-working in the area. A RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) may be accepted in lieu of an ARRT if deemed appropriate by facility leadership.

  • Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.

  • ACLS certification preferred.

  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification preferred.

  • Other unit specific certifications as required.

  • Experience: Two to three years' relevant experience (in Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Cath Lab).

  • Knowledge:

  • Understanding of neurovascular, peripheral vascular, and interventional procedures.

  • Knowledge of anatomical positioning and physiology to demonstrate appropriate structures.

  • Familiarity with special procedures imaging equipment and radiation safety practices.

  • Awareness of department standards and protocols for operating imaging networks.

  • Skills:

  • Ability to position and immobilize patients.

  • Skill in operating imaging equipment to produce optimal quality examinations.

  • Competence in coordinating patient throughput and care flow.

  • Proficiency in reviewing examination orders for accuracy and completeness.

  • Skill in preparing exam rooms and assembling imaging records for interpretation.
