Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist position is responsible for advising leaders and employees on employee relations concerns to provide timely resolution. The Human Resources Generalist assists with the coordinator and organization of special projects and events to support compliance and promote employee engagement. The HR Generalist will report to the HR Manager and will have a key support role in the project management and execution of strategic organizational goals relating to Human Resources.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Manages, resolves and makes recommendations on employee relations issues through effective, thorough and objective investigations. Advises leaders on HR policies, their interpretation and application and managing involuntary terminations, suspensions and corrective actions.

  • Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy and employment laws.

  • Administers unemployment insurance processes; reviews liability reports and monitors program costs; and recommends policy changes to the manager of human resources.

  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal discrimination and employment regulations.

  • Prepares and maintains concise and accurate documentation, including but not limited to investigatory notes, follow-up letters and case summaries.

  • Serves as an employee advocate, providing counsel, career development and guidance to employees regarding employment issues.

  • Successfully manages human resources/employee relations projects in a timely manner by defining the purpose of the project, developing milestone documents, defining critical tasks and implementation, steps and oversight through project completion.

  • Research and analyze various types of data information and makes recommendation based on the findings.

  • Works in collaboration with other Human Resources staff to ensure information flow and secure positive operational results within department as it relates to project management, employee activities, employee relations, termination, etc.

  • Independently recognizes and performs duties which need to be done without being directly assigned. Establishes priorities; organizes work and time effectively.

  • Assists with overall department Performance Improvement activities. Recommends new approaches and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.

  • Analyze workforce metrics and trends to identify opportunities for improvement. This includes conducting Exit Interviews.

  • Conduct Trainings as requested by management.

  • Participate in Good Life and CCE meetings, be seen as a strategic partner. Manage onsite events as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
