The office based role responsible for Relay Protection and Control engineering with detailed design for high voltage substation.As part of this role, the successful candidate will prepare one line diagrams, three line diagrams, elementary diagrams and relay panel front view layout. The Candidate will also be responsible for AC/DC Load Calculations, Battery sizing and cable sizing.

Also to provide:



  • Make decisions regarding engineering complexities and methods. Requires use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices in relation to electrical power systems;
  • Effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring of work activities, and coordinating design activities with other multi-discipline project team members;
  • Thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations;
  • Engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems;
  • Accountable to provide design activities in accordance with applicable codes and standards, policies and procedures;
  • Mentor and provide guidance to developing engineers within the department;
  • Support company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally;
  • Continuous improvement of job-related, engineering technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
  • Capable to perform QA/QC on protection and Control design packages and verify design compliance with scope documents.


Candidate Specification:

You are a team player who is comfortable liaising with stakeholders internally and externally with an exceptional ability to communicate orally and through written correspondence. You have a strong work ethic and take pride and accountability in your duties and accomplishments as an individual. You have expansive experience in consulting environments and understand the importance of keeping all parities involved in a project updated and in the loop at all times.

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience;



  • Electrical Engineer with BSEE or higher and 6 or more years experience in protection and control for high voltage substation design.
  • Knowledge of protective relaying and principles of automation and control for Schweitzer, Siemens, Areva, or ABB protective relay products; can work on one line and three lines, schematics for protective relays including microprocessor relays, control schematics, alarms, auxiliary power and AC/DC Load calculations, wiring diagrams.
  • Electrical utility switching stations/substations experience and basic knowledge of electrical stations equipment, e.g., transformers, circuit breakers, medium voltage switchgear, gas insulated stations (GIS), regulators, capacitor banks, fiber optic communication and their protection & controls.
  • knowledge and experience with protective relay schemes and applications, fiber optic communication, SCADA, metering, A.C & D.C power distribution and controls, alarms, fiber optic communication and equipment monitoring systems.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized accredited institution;
  • PE - Professional Engineer preferred, not required, however we encourage the advancement of engineers.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

The expected salary for this position is $91,000- $111,000
