Job Summary

The Department Chair has a very significant high profile role in the UCSF Health System. It will be essential that the Chair's immediate office will coordinate and liaise closely with the principal offices of the broad UCSF organization, e.g. Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, Medical Center and various School Dean's Offices and Department in support of overall institutional goals. In addition, the Chair serves on several national boards and committees as part of his duties to the broader national and international radiology community.

  • The Executive Analyst/Assistant must be able to triage and reprioritize projects and unexpected events independently and promptly to ensure the Chair's administrative needs are met efficiently, professionally and with the highest level of quality. Crucial elements required of this position are confidentiality, tact, and discretion to handle sensitive matters.

  • This position is critical to organizing high level meetings, including developing and implementing standard procedures for these meetings and analyzing materials and presentations. Schedules of the Chair and senior level personnel and internal and external stakeholders are highly complex and require accuracy and efficiency on the part of the Executive Analyst to maximize opportunities for meetings and minimize disruptions.
  • The incumbent often operates with limited information and usually with time constraints and will possess no line authority or ability to control the actions of others in areas outside of the Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging. This function requires detailed knowledge of overall departmental operations, a high degree of independent judgment, analytical skills to prioritize urgency levels, and tactful handling of sensitive calls. As part of the Department administration, the incumbent will make independent decisions and determine when given confidential information that may affect the operation of the Chair's office or organization.
