| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The mission of Carolina Performing Arts (
CPA) is to spark curiosity, inspiring all members of our community to discover and more fully engage with the world. We collaborate with dynamic and compelling artists from across the globe to create novel, mission-driven performing arts experiences in partnership with our community. We also open our venues to others to explore, create, and celebrate their own work. Through the Office of the Executive Director for the Arts (
EDA),
CPA oversees all artistic programming, campus and community engagement, marketing and fundraising for its presented, commissioned and produced work, and manages all operations of its venues including facility rentals, technical production, audience services and ticketing.

| Position Summary |
The Volunteer Coordinator manages the daily operations of CPA's Volunteer Corps. The Volunteer Corps is launching in spring 2026 with approximately 15 volunteers and will scale to 50-80 volunteers within the first year. Responsibilities include assigning and confirming shifts, tracking volunteer hours, maintaining uniforms and supplies, preparing materials, providing on-site support, and serving as the primary contact for volunteer shifts as needed. The role may require being on call to address urgent volunteer needs and perform other duties as directed by the Assistant Director of People and Culture (
ADPC).
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations & Program Support
Assign, confirm, and communicate volunteer shifts; track shift vacancies and fill openings as needed
Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers shifts as needed
Attend volunteer shifts for training and on-site support
Address volunteer questions, requests, and concerns, escalating complex issues to the
ADPC as needed.
Communicate shift details, updates, and reminders to volunteers
Support special events and projects involving volunteers
Supplies, Uniforms & Equipment
Track, maintain, and distribute volunteer supplies and uniforms, including budget expense tracking for reconciliation by
ADPC
Ensure adequate inventory levels and notify
ADPC of needs
Prepare materials and equipment for volunteer shifts and activities
Administrative & Record-Keeping
Maintain accurate volunteer records, hours, and attendance logs
Support onboarding by processing paperwork and setting up new volunteers in systems
Assist with reporting and documentation as needed |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
