Position Overview
| Position Summary |
*This is an internal posting, available only to current WSSU employees, for the Interim Director of CITI. *
Responsibilities include:
- Provide vision and leadership for faculty development at WSSU to advance the achievement of university learning goals and the University Strategic Plan.
- Collaborate with academic units, Faculty Senate leadership and committees, and individual faculty in the design and planning of curricula, courses, learning environments, appropriate use of instructional technologies, and experiential learning, in the interpretation of teaching evaluations and in faculty development.
- Promote multicultural teaching and the infusion of diversity and inclusion, and social justice into the curriculum/ classroom.
- Collaborate on vision and planning for emerging teaching and learning technologies and E-platforms.
- Stay abreast of literature on teaching and learning and network with national groups and individuals, lead campus collaborations in the scholarship of teaching and learning and consult with campus partners regarding grant funding for faculty and curriculum development.
- Design and conduct faculty development programs including faculty learning communities, workshops and seminars.
- Collaborate with academic and student support services leadership (in tutoring, mentoring and other peer education and student success programs) to develop curriculum and programs that align with strategic goals and student learning outcomes.
- Oversee CITI professional and administrative staff: supervision, hiring, and professional development in specialized areas of purview and design and delivery of services/programs.
- Provide coordination and oversight for institutional compliance of distance learning administrative matters, including state authorization, substantive changes with system offices and accreditation bodies, distance proxy administration, etc.
- Coordinate and promote the Quality Matters program at WSSU for all online and blended courses.
- Lead assessment of CITI programs
- Oversee the CITI budget

- Master's degree or Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Minimum 5 years experience in a teaching and learning center environment
- Accomplished teaching in higher education
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Track record of fostering collaboration
- Knowledge of use, implementation and best practices for instructional technologies
- Track record of excellence supervising professional staff and promoting their professional development
- Demonstrated knowledge of:
- Theories of learning and curricular design, and innovative teaching approaches (e.g., collaborative learning, service learning, problem-based learning and other high impact teaching practices)
- Strategies for organizational development, program consultation, group and team building, and the influence of environmental factors on teaching and learning
- Learning and program assessment strategies
- Instructional design principles
