Category Manager

As a Category Manager, you will develop and implement strategies for assigned categories with a focus on reducing organizational expenditure, improving savings opportunities, and enhancing relationships with business partners and suppliers. As an important contributor in our Procurement organization, you'll negotiate value-driven agreements and drive supplier performance. You'll also lead major projects, which involve running RFPs, selecting top-tier suppliers, developing implementation plans, and ensuring policy compliance. In this high impact role, you will manage resin categories for PPG. You will report to the Raw Material Sr. Manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for the regional tolling procurement strategy. This involves working directly with Functional stakeholders and the Procurement team within the Americas region. Additionally, where applicable, it requires collaboration between the regions (Americas, EMEA, APAC) to drive and influence best practices.
• Prepare annual category plans that align with regional requirements.
• Develop regional sourcing projects (where applicable) for critical categories using the strategic sourcing process.
• Identify solutions to lead incremental cost reductions and cost avoidance opportunities through category knowledge and by researching and understanding industry trends at the regional and global levels.
• Work with the relevant teams and the Local Buyers in the region and each country to assess, bid, improve, and implement projects that align with key strategic roadmaps.
• Communicate updates with leadership to review critical suppliers, upcoming projects, and an understanding of forward needs.
• Collaborate with Strategic Business Units, Functional Teams, and Procurement partners to understand requirements and resolve issues promptly.
• Use multiple purchasing electronic tools to analyze spend under management and submit RFIs, RFPs, Reverse Auctions to source suppliers.
• Evaluate supplier performance with a global viewpoint to identify opportunities for cost savings and improvements.
• Ensure the Procurement function is carried out in an ethical and professional manner.
• Foster and use world class purchasing practices that comply with all PPG's Global Procurement Policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Operations.
• Proficiency in establishing contracts, monitoring performance and issue resolution.
• Proven track record of process improvement and project management.
