Position Title:Director, Pediatric & Women's Advanced Practice Department:Advance Practice Provider Administration Job Description:

General Description: An Advanced Practice Director is a clinician and administrative leader who provides strategic vision and oversight, coordination, and integration of Advanced Practice Providers throughout area of responsibility. Functions as a resource regarding the APP recruitment and retention, scope of practice, utilization and collaborative practice models, credentialing, orientation, regulation and policy issues, optimal billing, competency, professional development, student placement, compliance, and research in areas of assigned oversight. Possesses strong leadership, team building, and decision-making capability. Demonstrates excellent communication, coordination, and collaboration with leadership and departments throughout assigned areas. Has accountability for ensuring the Advanced Practice Providers meet the quality, safety and financial targets established by the facility. Participates as a member of the leadership team to plan, implement and evaluate clinical operations to achieve patient experience, clinical quality, financial and employee engagement outcomes.

  • Responsible for strategic oversight of assigned area in collaboration with Physician teams and operations/business leaders.

  • Supports key strategic initiatives and goals of the Office for Advanced Practice.

  • Supports OAP and system wide projects that are aimed at advancing PA and APRN practice, education, and research initiatives.

  • Facilitates hiring & orientation of new APPs (in collaboration with business and medical leaders, and any applicable APP department leadership).

  • Oversees Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE).

  • Performance evaluations in collaboration with Physician team.

  • Time, attendance, and schedule oversite in collaboration with practice team.

  • CME benefit tracking.

  • Monitoring APP clinical work expectations in partnership with OUH Leadership.

  • Serves as expert for APP related questions/issues for health system partners.

  • Participates in interprofessional partnerships to best support high quality care for the patients and their families at OU Health.

  • Supports OU Health mission and vision with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Remains current on national and regional trends and changes within the APP role, the organization and health care delivery system.

  • Holds self and others accountable for behaviors that align with OU Health mission and values, including the commitment to life-long learning, team collaborative spirit, and professional conduct.

  • Clinical department reporting for practice responsibilities.

  • Maintains patient care practice. Effort to be determined.

General Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • APRN: Master's degree in one of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse areas (CNS, CRNA, CNP, or CNM). Relative Doctoral degree preferred.

  • Physician Assistant: Master's degree in Physician Assistant/Associate Studies. Relative Doctoral degree preferred.

Experience: 5 to 7 years of progressive leadership experience required with at least 5 or more years experience of clinical practice within one of the areas under the direction of this position.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s):

  • APRN: Current APRN and RN licensure from Oklahoma Board of Nursing and board certification.

  • Physician Assistant: Current full licensure from Oklahoma Board of Medicine and board certification.

  • Both: Leadership certification required within 1 year if not obtained upon hir.

Required Skills:

  • Proven ability to provide leadership in a complex environment.

  • Demonstrated leadership and effectiveness in building strong working relationships with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style.

  • Evidence of successful collaborations with APPs and Physician colleagues.

  • Demonstrated ability to be engaging and persuasive with strong teamwork skills, politically astute, diplomatic, and able to manage by influence.

  • Flexible and capable of responding to multiple demands in a time-sensitive manner.

  • Ability to exercise thoughtful judgment in all matters related to APPs.

  • Sufficient with MS Office applications.

  • Must understand basic concepts related to billing and revenue.

  • Excellent working knowledge of the APRN/PA scope of practice.
