What You'll Do:
- Monitor geologic and mining parameters which affect phosphate ore reserve and production estimates.
- Make recommendations to management regarding long range and immediate mine plans, equipment utilization, land acquisition/management.
- Responsible for the safe and efficient coordination of all mine planning activities to meet or exceed mining production objectives.
- Interact with personnel from the other site, corporate, such as but not limited to Mine, Mill, Mine Services, Technical Services, Engineering, Environmental Affairs, Public Relations, and Maintenance, advice from legal counselors at times.
- Coordinate efforts of outside consultants regarding mine planning, permitting, waste material storage and reclamation.
- Monitor and audit the mine area production departments relating to mine plan execution and maximization of ore reserve recovery. Coordination of immediate mine planning in conjunction with the mine operating department superintendents.
- Development of sound intermediate and long-range mining plans which maximize economic utilization of the ore reserve.
- Acquisition support for permits required for long term continuation of the mining operations; development of optional plans to avoid production interruptions.
- Evaluation of geologic conditions to plan safe, efficient development of the mining operation.
- Recommendations for land acquisition and long-term management, including the coordination of land reclamation plans.
- Employee development through support of educational and training programs.
- Maintain good rapport with regulatory agencies; stay abreast of current/future regulations.
- Position contributes directly to company income and long-term viability through the process of economic mine planning and ore reserve utilization.
- Due to changes in ore quality/quantity affecting recoveries and production costs-establish a data correlation program to better predict effects of changes.
- The incumbent manages the geology reserve data base and supports the "qualified person" named in the site's U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission annual Form 10-K report for the reporting of reserves and resources. The incumbent is encouraged to become certified as a "qualified person" for White Springs.
- Manages and participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the Mine Planning department.
- Develops and standardizes procedures and methods to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering services, projects, and activities; assesses and monitors workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends to the Manager, Mine Operations;
- Interpret, apply, explain, and ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations and permits supervises the preparation of annual compliance reports to the regulatory bodies;
- Develops survey standards and the supervises survey services throughout White Springs;
- Assists with the administration of land at White Springs including the administration of leases and deeds, the development of reports to land owners, analysis of potential reserve acquisition, development of capital AFE for land purchases and general knowledge of real estate deeds and transactions;
- Supervises and manages projects as assigned by management;
- Supervises data records and the acquisition of data records related to the mining operations;
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mining/Civil Engineering strongly preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of mine planning experience
- Minimum of 3 years Supervisor experience, with direct reports
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and SurvCAD
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
