The University of Cincinnati's Department of Internal Medicine has a rich history that began with its formation in 1819. A national search is underway to identify the next Chair to lead a department characterized by strong clinical volume, broad research interests, and a deeply collaborative interprofessional culture. The Department is wellpositioned within the institution's strategic priorities, particularly in partnership with initiatives that align strongly with medicine and offer opportunities to enhance research and clinical impact. Success in this role will require a leader who thrives in a matrixed environment and can build strong partnerships with system leadership, while also serving as a clear and intentional conduit between the Department and the health system. The Chair will bring an expansive vision for the future of internal medicine. This individual will drive the strategic direction of the department, steward excellence across clinical, research, and educational missions, and lead initiatives to recruit and retain top-tier faculty. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record across the spectrum of individual scholarship, collaborative academic leadership, clinical and research program development, educational excellence, successful faculty recruitment, retention, and advancement. In addition to being appointed the Chief of Internal Medicine for UC Health, the Chair will be an integral leader in the College of Medicine (CoM) and needs to think and function in a system context.
