Hourly Pay Range:

$24.75 - $38.36 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Registered Nurse PEL School Program
  • Location: School assignment will be determined by supervisor, working in School District 205
  • Full-Time: 40 hours/week
  • Hours: Monday-Friday 7:45am-3:45pm

What you will do:

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. This includes knowledge of the physical and psychological needs of patients served and the ability to respond appropriately to those needs.
  • Assumes responsibility for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered an injury or sudden illness.
  • Maintains up to date health records on all students according to state compliance guidelines and school policy.
  • Administers and monitors medications and/or prescribed medical treatment given to any student while attending school.
  • Assumes responsibilities for identification and referral of any students with medical, dental, healthcare needs. Consults with parents, school personnel, physician and other agencies as needed.
  • Advises on exclusion and readmission of students with infectious diseases.
  • Provides health and wellness programs for students as requested by staff.
  • Proves in services and advises staff on health needs.
  • Makes home visits to observe student and family as needed.
  • Conducts school health screenings to include vision and hearing. Makes appropriate referrals.
  • Follows and maintains school health policy and district guidelines.
  • Advises on modification of an educational program to meet the health needs of identified students.
  • Evaluates environmental safety and provides and environment that is safe that is based on age and developmental status.
  • Attends meetings and conferences regarding student health services and curriculum.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Certification: Current Type 73 School Nurse Certification and Current CPR certification through American Heart Association
  • License: Current Illinois Professional Registered Nurse Licensure
  • Experience: Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred
